4. What are you afraid of?
Trick question -- I'm afraid of the same things I'm always afraid of. And I'm afraid of everything! Okay, not entirely, I have much less anxiety than I used to. I have a good, if boring as hell, job that pays very well and has great benefits. My mom seems to be doing okay, she has enough money to keep herself going and her health is good. Really, the main thing is my grad school applications, and my doubts/fears about relationships. That's the part that's nothing new.

5. 10 songs you love right now
I have a couple hundred songs on my phone, but I haven't downloaded anything new in a while. I used to be much more into music than I am now, which is funny cause I walk a couple of miles each day and have nothing to listen to but the same old songs. It's actually not that bad, though.

1. Kill All Your Friends - My Chemical Romance. For some reason, this seems like a good Natasha/Black Widow song to me. Maybe because you were walking away / and I will die in this place always becomes you were walking away / and I died in your place to me.

2. Abraham's Daughter - Arcade Fire. Oh fuck I love this song. If you haven't heard it, seriously, stop reading and listen to it right now. It is every song about every heroine that I have ever wanted and didn't know I didn't have, until I heard it. Seriously, seriously. Biblical myth and feminism and defiance and huge smashy sounds and I just. 'How dare a soldier / defy her father' / she said 'you'd better let young Isaac go'. IT'S PERFECT OKAY.

3. Anything Could Happen - Elle Goulding. Always reminds me of FFXIII, which I was playing when I heard it. But it's just a great song overall. We held our breath / To see our names were written / On the wreck of '86 / That was the year / I knew the panic was over.

4. A Dustland Fairytale - The Killers. Love this song, most songs come to represent a single character or fandom to me, but this one is always so relevant. Out here the good girls die.

5. Crystal Ball - Pink. Pink is pretty awesome in general, but I think this is one of my favorites from her. The black cat always reminds me of Blue, who was my cat for twenty-one years and was the pissiest ball of black fur ever. But I loved her, she was cranky and affectionate and fearless, and she never ever apologized. Plus there was that time she kicked a hunting dog's ass, so there's that. Pennies in a well, a million dollars in the fountain of a hotel. / Broken mirrors and a black cats cold stare, / Walk under ladders on my way to hell, I'll meet you there

6. Heavy in Your Arms - Florence + the Machine. This song is super Sasuke to me. Are you strong enough to stand / Protecting both your heart and mine?

7. Remain Nameless - Florence + the Machine. This song is just sheer badassery. Seriously, it just builds and builds. Listen to it and then get your ass handed to you. Call me when you need me.

8. Banner - Lights. This is an interesting love song, I think, very loud and smashy instead of introspective, but very sweet. It's very defiant as well, which you may have noticed, I like in a song. If this war is never ending / I'll take this love down with me / Like a banner

9. My Heart Is the Worst Kind of Weapon - Fall Out Boy. This song basically embodies FOB and Pete Wentz to me. From pretty much the first word to the last I just go yes yes yes this is perfect, these are great words, you are so fucked up and perfectly articulate, I love you. I just. My favorite line: I'm the kind of kid / that can't let anything go / but you wouldn't know a good thing / if it came up and slit your throat

10. Poor Man's House - Patty Griffin. I thought, this is the last song on the list, it should be extra awesome, but in the end I went for the song I've loved the longest. The opening to this song is pretty much perfection to me. I know I've said this about all of the songs here, but it is, they're all perfect in completely different ways, I can't even. For the other songs I googled to double-check the lyrics, but I don't have to check these ones. You'll know you've done enough / when every bone is sore / you'll know you've prayed enough / when you don't ask anymore / you'll know you're coming to / some kind of understanding / when every dream you've dreamed has passed / and you're still standing.

I was gonna upload the songs, but it was being difficult so I just created a playlist on Spotify and posted it to tumblr. So here's the link. Everything by My Heart is the Worst Kind of Weapon, b/c I like the demo, not the acoustic.

YAY MUSIC.
